The Syrian regime announced that it has provided “military and logistical support” to the Kurdish fighters who are confronting the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Syrian city of Kobani, adding that the support will not stop, Al-Quds newspaper reported on Wednesday.

The Syrian Information Minister, Omran Al-Zohbi, told Syrian state media that the regime and its armed forces “have provided military and logistical support, as well as munitions and weapons to the city. The state has done that and nobody can deny it, and will continue doing its to best and to the most of its abilities, because this is an existential issue.”

“Since the first moment of the battle, [Kobani] has always been a city in Syria and all its family and people are Syrians par excellence, and thus the state has not and will not hesitate to exercise its military, political, social, economic and humanitarian duties towards all areas, from the smallest village in Syria to the largest city,” Al-Quds quoted Al-Zohbi as saying.

Meanwhile, Naharnet online news website reported that Al-Zohbi also announced on Wednesday that Syria’s air force had destroyed two of the three warplanes reportedly seized by ISIS fighters in the north of the country.
