Students demand removal of Houthi militants from campus

November 5, 2014 at 11:49 am

Dozens of students from the government run University of Sanaa protested today calling for the removal of the Houthis from their campus.

According to the Anadolu Agency correspondent, the students set off from a number of colleges before collecting in front of the university’s administration offices demanding the quick removal of the Houthis from campus, and their replacement with civilian guards.

The protest came following two days of demonstrations at the university’s entrance, when the students gave the university president two days to take the necessary measures to end the Houthi presence threatening to escalate their actions if this was not done.

Dozens of students held demonstrations at the university last Wednesday demanding the removal of Houthi militants from campus.

Since they took control of Sanaa on September 21, Houthi gunmen have kept an active presence on the University of Sanaa campus and at its gates under the name Revolutionary Student Committees. This did not affect the continuation of the academic year.
