Iranian foreign minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, has stressed his country’s readiness to cooperate with Jordan in the fight against extremism, MEMO sources revealed on Tuesday.

The Islamic Republic News Agency of Iran (IRNA) quoted Zarif as saying that the Islamic Republic is ready to engage in close cooperation with Jordan in the context of strengthening and developing bilateral relations and also fighting extremism and sectarian strife.

During a meeting in which he received the credentials of the new Jordanian ambassador to Tehran, Zarif said that: “the region and the Islamic world are facing many problems. And in order to overcome these problems, particularly with regard to confronting the procedures taken against Jerusalem and the fight against extremism, all countries must cooperate and exchange opinions.”

For his part, the new Jordanian ambassador, Abdullah Sulaiman Abdullah Abu Rumman, voiced “Amman’s interest in enhancing and developing its relations with Tehran.”
