ISIS dismantles Iraqi oil refinery and transport it to Mosul

December 4, 2014 at 2:37 pm

Sources in the Iraqi army said on Wednesday that the Islamic State group (also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS) has dismantled a small refinery with a capacity of 10,000 barrels per day, and transferred its equipment to the city of Mosul.

Eyewitnesses said that ISIS dismantled parts of the Siniya refinery, located in the Siniya region to the west of Baiji, and transported them on large trucks that trod dusty roads north of Baghdad towards Mosul.

Other trucks are reportedly currently parked near the refinery to load other parts. The Siniya refinery is considered as one of the five small refineries annexed to the North Refineries Company in Baiji that produce oil products to meet the needs of domestic consumption in the Salahuddin province.
