Israeli army prevents Palestinian students from entering their school

December 4, 2014 at 1:58 pm

The Israeli army prevented Palestinian students in Nablus from entering their school on Wednesday morning. This was done under the pretext that settlers’ vehicles were subjected to stone throwing in the area, MEMO sources have reported.

The principal of Al-Sawiyah Al-Lubban Secondary School for Boys, Adnan Ahmed Hussein, told Anadolu Agency that: “Dozens of Israeli soldiers had cordoned off the school before students arrived in the morning, and prevented them from entering it, claiming that settlers’ vehicles were exposed to stone throwing when they passed near the school on Tuesday.”

Hussein added that, “the pretexts that the Israeli army proclaimed do not exist”, noting that what happened is just an “excuse” to halt studying in the school.

He also noted that, “tension and anger are prevailing among students amid fears of the outbreak of clashes if they continue to be prevented from entering [the school].”

It was not possible to get immediate comment from Israeli sources regarding this matter.

According to the principle, the school was attacked by settlers about a month ago, and it is frequently subjected to incursions by the Israeli army.
