Israel expels three Jerusalemites for five months

December 5, 2014 at 12:12 pm

Israeli authorities expelled three Jerusalemites for a period of five months, starting October 30.

Palestinians Daud Al-Ghoul, 31, Majd Darwish, 24, and Saleh Derbas, 23, can return to Jerusalem after April 30, 2015. They risk imprisonment if they violate the order. The three men had recently been released from Israeli prisons.

The Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association – Addameer said the orders to expel the activists violate Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention. It added that the Israeli actions are part of a series of racist laws and procedures which include home demolitions, resuming administrative detentions and adopting laws that contradict the Fourth Geneva Convention and aim to deter the city’s Palestinian residents from defending their rights and holy places.
