Hamas condemns Kerry remarks on 'anti-Hamas' Arab coalition

December 8, 2014 at 5:24 pm

Hamas condemned US Secretary of State John Kerry’s statements in which he said that some Arab countries are willing to ally with Israel against the movement.

In a statement to the Anadolu Agency, official Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri described Kerry’s statements as “delusions” and “dreams” that will not come true.

He added: “Hamas is a national liberation movement and the Palestinian resistance will last as long as the Israeli occupation and attacks on the Palestinians continue.”

“Resistance is a legitimate right and no Arab or international coalition will succeed in breaking the will of the resistance and it will continue,” Abu Zuhri said.

Kerry also said that there are Arab states willing to make peace with Israel in an effort to ally with Israel against Hamas and the Islamic State (ISIS).

In his speech before the Saban Forum by the Brookings Institution in Washington, Kerry said that the current violence in the Middle East has created an opportunity for regional cooperation that can include Israel and Arab states.

He added that in the midst of acts of terror and even more, “we are seeing the potential of the emergence of a new regional alignment, with little in common but a shared aversion to extremists.”

Kerry also noted that these countries, which he did not name, have confirmed they are willing and prepared to make peace with Israel and are able to from a regional alliance that includes Israel and other Arab states.
