December 18, 2014 at 2:52 pm

Egypt’s retired Lieutenant General and former Chief of Staff Sami Anan appealed against the decision to object to the establishment of his new party, Alamatonline.net reported yesterday.

The political parties’ affairs committee, which objected to the establishment of Anan’s party, said that the decision came as a result of the Arabism Egypt Party not submitting all the required documents.

In a statement, Arabism Egypt Party asked the head of the State Council to postpone the upcoming parliamentary elections because the party would be unable to partake in it.

It also appealed, before the administrative court, to urgently halt all measures pertaining to the parliamentary elections until the issues relating to their party are sorted.

In case the formation of the party is delayed, Arabism Egypt Party’s co-founders asked for their candidates to be able to partake in the elections without a party to back them.
