Qatari Emir to meet Al-Sisi

December 22, 2014 at 12:18 pm

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad are due to meet in Riyadh, under the auspices of Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, to end the dispute between Cairo and Doha, Asharq Al-Awsat quoted unnamed sources as saying.

The sources said the meeting was arranged to discuss the outstanding issues between the two countries, the most important of which is Qatar’s position on the events of June 30, 2013, and its support of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood.

A statement issued by the Saudi Royal Court announced that Cairo and Doha had accepted the Kingdom’s invitation of reconciliation in appreciation of the King’s initiative in which he called “the brothers in both countries to consolidate relations between one another and unify their word and remove the obstacles which provoke conflict and discord between them”.
