“Only” tens of Israeli Arabs had joined the Islamic State (ISIS), Israeli radio reported Defence Minister
Moshe Ya’alon as saying yesterday.
Ya’alon said: “The phenomenon of joining ISIS is still marginal among Israeli Arabs.”
He stressed that the “Israeli security services are monitoring this phenomenon very closely because
it might have dangerous repercussions on the situation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.”
Hamas reiterated that there are no ISIS members in Gaza, while the Palestinian Authority has been
carrying out strict security campaigns to prevent the arrival of ISIS members to the West Bank.
Regarding the Golan Heights, Ya’alon said that Al-Nusra Front, which controls the area, does not
approach the Israeli border.
He said that the situation in the north of Israeli is “stable” while, in the south, Hamas is
“reconstructing” tunnels.
