Kuwaiti authorities have raised the security level on their county’s border with Iraq in wake of the “terrorist attack” perpetrated on the Saudi border earlier this week, Kuwaiti Al-Qabas newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Three Saudi guards, including a top commander, were killed on Monday in a rare attack and suicide bombing by “terrorists” on the Kingdom’s border with Iraq. Four attackers were also killed in the clash, two in suicide blasts.

The newspaper reported orders to boost military intelligence on the border and to reinforce their ranks with more state security groups. A security source told the newspaper that intensive security measures were required at the border.

According to the source, mutual correspondence between Kuwaiti-Iraqi contacts has been taking place in order to put the situation under control and to protect the country from security threat.
