Hamas congratulates Brazil president on her re-election

Hamas congratulated Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff who was sworn in for a second term in office at the start of the year.

In a press statement released on yesterday, the movement said it takes pride in Rousseff’s strong and historical pro-Palestinian positions and support of the Palestine people, particularly during the latest Israeli offensive on the besieged Gaza Strip.

It said it hoped the Brazilian president would continue “to support the Palestinians on all possible levels- politically, diplomatically and economically until the Palestinians restore their freedom and return to their native soil”.

During the most recent Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Rousseff expelled the Israeli ambassador from Brazil in protest against the war crimes committed by Tel Aviv against the Palestinian people.
