Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday met with the Director of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service Khaled Fawzi and discussed the latest developments in the Palestinian issue, the Anadolu Agency reported.

They also discussed the Egyptian efforts exerted in the UN Security Council for the sake of ending the Israeli occupation, as well as the efforts exerted to consolidate the Palestinian reconciliation.

According to the PA Ambassador to Cairo and the Arab League Jamal Al-Shobaki, Abbas and Fawzi discussed the efforts exerted by the Palestinian unity government to reconstruct the Gaza Strip.

Al-Shobaki, who attended the meeting along with Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat and chief of PA intelligence services Majed Faraj, noted that Abbas hailed the Egyptian efforts to help and support the Palestinian issue on all levels.

On Monday, Abbas visited Turkey and met with the country’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu.
