Hamas: Abbas' agreement is needed to solve Gaza crises

January 14, 2015 at 10:48 am

The Palestinian unity government needs a “political decision” from Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas to solve the problems in the Gaza Strip, senior Hamas leader Khalil Al-Hayya said yesterday.

Speaking on Al-Aqsa TV, Al-Hayya said there is a “need for a political decision from Abbas and Fatah” as the “huge needs of the Strip cannot be fulfilled without a political umbrella”.

He went on to accuse Fatah and Abbas of being dependent on external powers against the Gaza Strip, stressing that “Fatah’s stubbornness and Abbas’s monopoly of the political Palestinian decisions will undermine chances to achieve the reconciliation.”

He concluded his speech saying: “It is time for all the Palestinian factions to speak about the crises facing our people… The unity government has been trying to evade and disclaim its responsibility for the Gaza Strip.”
