Deputy Chairman of Hamas’s Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh expressed the movement’s solidarity with Lebanon and Hezbollah following the Israeli assassination of its leaders on Sunday.

During an event in Gaza City yesterday, Haniyeh called for everyone to “unite against Israel, the nation’s main enemy”.

“We stand with Lebanon and its resistance, and we confirm that our people are in the frontline in terms of resisting the occupation,” Haniyeh said.

“We cannot, as we stand at the forefront of fighting Israel, but declare our full solidarity with the Arab and Islamic resistance”.

Haniyeh condemned what he described as the Israeli crimes and assassination policy against “the resistance leaders”.

He called to end religious and sectarian conflicts as well as internal battles and to allow people to enjoy their full rights.

In a statement released on Sunday, Hezbollah said six of the group’s members were killed in an Israeli air strike in Quneitra, southwest Syria.

Israel has not officially claimed responsibility for the assassination.
