Iran is ready to launch “open, transparent and inclusive talks” with Saudi Arabia; Iran’s official news agency reported the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council as saying yesterday.

During a meeting with Iran’s envoy to Saudi Arabia Hussein Sadeghi, Ali Shamkhani noted the enormous financial and humanitarian damages resulting from sectarian conflicts in the Islamic world and stressed the need for the Islamic countries to play a role in preserving the lives of Muslims and confronting extremism and terrorism.

Meanwhile, Sadeghi stressed the need to focus on areas of cooperation between the two countries and the positive results from expanding mutual cooperation.

He said that it was important to overcome obstacles and misunderstandings between countries in order to restore security, stability and prosperity to the Islamic world.
