Turkey condemns deadly attacks in Egypt's Sinai, Suez

January 30, 2015 at 1:44 pm

Turkey condemned Friday the recent attacks in Egypt’s North Sinai and Suez that left 30 people dead and wounded 47 others.

In a statement, Turkish Foreign Ministry condoled with the victims’ families and wished the injured a quick recovery.

“Turkey will continue its solidarity with brotherly Egyptian people,” the statement added.

On Wednesday, at least 29 people were killed and 47 others were injured in multiple attacks on Egyptian military and security sites in the Sinai.

On Thursday, an Egyptian officer was killed in a bomb blast near a security facility in Suez city.

Egyptian security forces have been waging a campaign against militants in Sinai, which shares borders with Israel and the Gaza Strip, amid a rise in attacks on army and police personnel since the ouster of elected President Mohamed Morsi in mid-2013.
