King Salman stops UAE-led ‘gang’ in the kingdom

February 4, 2015 at 2:12 pm

Analysts speculate that Saudi’s King Salman has scrapped plans orchestrated by Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Zayed and his intelligence agencies to influence power in the kingdom.

According to media reports, the appointment of Mohammed Bin Nayef as deputy crown price came as a blow to the Emirati monarchy which played a key role in supporting Prince Mutaib Bin Abdullah all along hoping he would assume the prestigious title of king one day.

However, with the new king’s shift, the UAE found itself excluded from the Saudi political game, it did not make any reference to Prince’s Nayef’s new post in its letter of condolences which came only five hours after King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz’s death, the country’s WAM news agency reported.

According to observers, Mohammed Bin Zayed’s options became very slim in the face of an opponent as strong as Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef who assumes the highest positions in the kingdom in addition to two other positions including that of deputy prime minister and interior minister.
