Palestinian resistance operations against the Israeli army and settlers increased by 33 per cent in 2014, official Israeli data revealed.

The data published by Shin Bet pointed out that the number of resistance operations in the occupied West Bank during 2014 was four times higher than during 2010. The data also noted that the Israeli army seized larger quantities of weapons during raids carried out in the occupied West Bank.

The data said the Israeli army confiscated, during raids that stretched from the northern West Bank to the south of Hebron, 200 firearm and 37,800 bullets as well as Molotov cocktails and other weapons including knives and daggers.

The Israeli NRG news site quoted an Israeli security source as saying: “The rise in the number of seized firearms and munitions signals the Palestinian organisations’ determination to carry out operations against Israeli targets.”

Data published recently by an Israeli army newspaper pointed out that as many as 367 Molotov cocktails attacks were carried out against Israeli cars in the last year.

Sources in the Israeli army central command said: “The number of Molotov cocktail operations is similar to last year’s record which has not been registered in the past ten years.”

According to Israeli statistics, 4,500 breach of public order operations were registered, there were 2,672 recorded in 2013. Some 1,866 cases of stone throwing were registered in the second half of 2014 compared to 876 in the first, causing damage to 730 Israeli vehicles.
