February 7, 2015 at 1:12 pm

Germany has decided to supply $13m worth of military aid to Kurdish fighters in Northern Iraq to help in the fight against Islamic State (ISIS) extremists, Anadolu reported on Friday.

The German defence ministry revealed that the aid includes 30 anti-tank missiles, 203 bazookas, 4,080 rifles, 40 pistols, 10,000 hand grenades, 10 military vehicles, 10 ambulances, 6.5 million bullets and winter military clothing.

“The UN has discussed the issue of fighting ISIS on several occasions,” said a ministry spokesperson, “and called for offering aid to the government of Northern Iraq and offer help to face ISIS.”

The statement said that Germany is moving within the framework of the international agreement, noting that ISIS has stopped development and has even retreated in some areas. “This proves the success of the efforts made in this regard,” the ministry added.
