Israeli FM: Defence minister has failed in his position

“The Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Ya’alon had failed in his position and caused harm to Israel on more than one occasion,” pls48.net reported Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman saying yesterday.

In a remark reported by the Israeli TV Channel 10, Lieberman said: “The defence minister’s treatment of Hamas and Hezbollah, in addition to other local countries harmed Israel’s deterrence.”

“Ya’alon’s interference in the political affairs against the United States also harmed Israel despite his attempts to apologise to [John] Kerry,” in reference to the verbal attacks Ya’alon made against the US secretary of state during the peace talks.

Lieberman has previously waged a series of aggressive remarks against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his defence minister in the wake of the 51-day Israeli war on Gaza last summer.

Ya’alon is a close ally of Netanyahu.
