For second day, Gaza turns out in support of Hamas

March 2, 2015 at 11:00 am

Thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip took to the streets for the second day in support of Hamas, refusing Egypt’s labelling of the group as a terrorist organisation.

Along the streets, the protesters raised Hamas flags and posters condemning the decision of the Egyptian court, who two months ago ruled that the Al-Qassam Brigades are a terrorist organisation.

In speech to the rally yesterday, Hamas spokesman Ismail Ridwan said: “The decision of the Egyptian court targets all Palestinians and their resistance.” He noted that labelling Hamas a terrorist organisation “turns all balances and equations upside down”.

Ridwan reiterated that Hamas would not change the target of its resistance, “which will remain heading towards the Israeli occupation”.
