Hamas calls for probe into accusations that Abbas fuelling Gaza chaos

Senior Hamas leader Mousa Abu-Marzouk yesterday called for the formation of a national committee to probe accusations that Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas and security services in Ramallah are fuelling chaos in Gaza.

Abu-Marzouk posted on his Facebook page: “No need to exchange accusations and use bad language that hurts the national body. No need to defend security coordination with the Israeli occupation after it was dismissed by the PLO and all Palestinians.”

“We are calling for the brothers in Fatah to come down for the sake of their people, to get closer to the national agenda,” saying that the national agenda is “decided and agreed upon” by the Palestinians, not Fatah or any other faction.

The Hamas member stressed that security cooperation “was criminalised” by the national agreement which classified it “a punishable act”.

Abu-Marzouk said that if there is suspicion about the videos broadcast by the Ministry of Interior in Gaza, there should be a national committee, including other factions and NGOs, to investigate the videos and the whole issue.

“They [Fatah and PA leaders] have to be responsible and stop playing with the fate of the Palestinians, reconciliation and national unity,” he added.
