Houthis blow up houses belonging to Brotherhood affiliate

April 21, 2015 at 9:13 am

Houthi militias blew up two homes on Monday belonging to prominent Yemeni Shaikh Abdul-Majid Al-Zindani, Anadolu has reported. The shaikh is a senior official in the Reform (Al-Islah) Party, in the north of Yemen, which is affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Shaikh Al-Zindani, who is one of the founders of the party, was not at home when the explosions were triggered; he has been in hiding since last September. The official is also the founder and head of Al-Iman University. About a week ago, Al-Zindani issued a statement in support of the Saudi-led Operation Decisive Storm against the Houthis.

Prior to Al-Zindani’s houses, the militias destroyed dozens of other buildings belonging to opposition members, calling them “Takfirists” (those who declare others to be out of Islam) and claiming that their homes were used to store weapons.

The Houthis are also being held responsible for the arrest and kidnap of other senior officials of the Reform Party.
