For the first time since the end of Operation Decisive Storm, Houthi militias have started to mobilise their military forces with tanks and armoured military vehicles in Sanaa, witnesses told the Anadolu Agency yesterday.

The Houthi militias erected, according to the witnesses, new military bases inside the capital. Residents in Sanaa fear armed clashes similar to what is going on in Taiz and cities in the south of the country.

The witnesses also said that the armed militias included minors, some under 15 years old, referring this to the involvement of the all the mature militia fighters in the fighting in Marib in the east of the country and Taiz in the centre, in addition to the governorates of the south.

Operation Decisive Storm, which was carried out by a Saudi-led alliance, started on 26 March and ended on 21 April. It targeted the Houthis’ military bases in Sanaa. Schools, universities and other major state activities were suspended during the operation.

“Operation Renewal of Hope” started in wake of Operation Decisive Storm. It is said that it includes bringing a political solution to the deadlock in Yemen.
