PLO calls on donors to increase financial support for UNRWA

PLO member and head of the Department of Refugee Affairs Zakaria Al-Agha yesterday called for the donor countries to increase their financial support for UNRWA to help resolve the current financial crisis being faced by the organisation, Quds Press reported.

Al-Agha, who received UNRWA’s Commissioner General Pierre Krenpol in his office, stressed on the importance of increasing financial support for UNRWA in order for it to provide for the increasing needs of Palestinian refugees.

In addition, Al-Agha reiterated the importance of the role which UNRWA is playing regarding Palestinian refugees forced out from their camps in Syria.

He also praised the work of UNRWA staff who are helping Palestinian refugees in Syria despite the dangerous security situation in the country.

UNRWA has recently suffered from a massive financial crisis and has launched several appeals aiming to help solve its financial deficit.
