Turkey allocates salaries to those in need and orphans

Turkey has allocated social welfare salaries for those in need, orphans and children of soldiers as of this May, the Minister of Family and Social Policies, Aisha Noor Islam, announced yesterday.

In an interview, Islam added that financial aid will also be allocated for those giving birth as of this month, including 300 Turkish liras ($111) for the first baby, 400 Turkish liras ($148) for the second, and 600 Turkish liras ($222) for the birth of subsequent children.

She noted that the opposition parties began to give promises which the Justice and Development Party has made to the people in the past, calling on the public to stay away from imitators when the original party still exists.

She added that the opposition parties had criticised the ruling Justice and Development Party for distributing social welfare payments, arguing that it would discourage people from making their own living. However, these same parties are now promising people the same benefits that the Justice and Development Party brought, she said.
