May 9, 2015 at 11:48 am

A Saudi media tycoon has met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara to discuss the work of Al-Arab TV news channel in Turkey, Al-Quds Al-Arabi has reported. Prince Al-Walid Bin-Talal was joined by Saudi journalist Jamal Khashogji and others at the meeting.

An informed Turkish source told Al-Quds Al-Arabi hinted that Al-Arab TV was not the main issue on the agenda with Erdogan, but refused to give more details. Khashogji has made a number of visits to Turkey to participate in several media and political conferences.

Political sources expect that Khashogji discussed the issue of the channel, which was banned in Bahrain on the pretext of violating editorial policies of the mass media working in Gulf States. According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, the latest visit was the result of the new era of relations between Saudi Arabia and Turkey, which have improved since the start of the reign of King Salman.
