Egypt court removes a child from Muslim Brotherhood mother

May 13, 2015 at 2:18 pm

An Egypt court in Qaliubiya province has removed a child from his mother’s custody over allegations that she is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The court justified the decision to remove the child from his mother’s care, saying that she raises him according to Muslim Brotherhood teachings which jeopardise his future and prepare him to be a “future terrorist”.

The father of the child, Mohammed Ibrahim Khallaf, filed the lawsuit against his ex-wife Maha Mabrouk demanding to have full custody of their 7-year-old son, Anas, and accusing her of being a Muslim Brotherhood member.

Khallaf is reported to have used a photo published by the mother on her Facebook page showing their son who raising the Rabea Al-Adawiya four finger salute to prove his claims.

Activists slammed the verdict and described it as a flagrant violation of the rights and freedom of mother and child.
