The Muslim Brotherhood appealed a decision by Egypt’s Attorney General, Hisham Barakat, to include 17 of its members on a terror list.
The lawsuit was filed by General Guide, Mohammed Badie and his two deputies Khairat Al-Shater and Rashad Albayouma as well as other members before the country’s Administrative Court.
According to the lawsuit, the attorney general’s decision is an administrative decision and not a judicial ruling and therefore can be challenged.
On 29 March, the attorney general issued a decision to include the Brotherhood’s supreme guide, Mohamed Badie, and 16 other leaders of the group on a list of terrorists.
The decision included former supreme leader, Mahdi Akef, the head of the dissolved Freedom and Justice Party, Saad Katatni and the two leading MB figures, Mohammed El-Beltagy and Essam El-Erian.
