Senior adviser claims army rules Egypt with UAE money

May 15, 2015 at 10:03 am

An Emirati researcher and adviser to Abu-Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed has said that the Egyptian army clearly rules Egypt now more than ever before, funded by the UAE. Dr Abdul Khaliq Abdullah explained that the civilian alternative to President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi is “weak and torn”.

Writing on Twitter, Abdullah claimed that the Egyptian economy started its recovery in 2014 and grew by 3 or perhaps 4 per cent this year. He insisted that financial aid from the Gulf was working like oxygen to bring Egypt to life.

“Emirati funding is everywhere and everyone appreciates it except the Muslim Brotherhood,” said Abdullah. “Every new project in Egypt today is done with generous funding and supervision from the UAE.”
