Creating new perspectives since 2009

You fool our nation, I tear your picture

May 16, 2015 at 11:41 am

This same hand that hung your picture fondly and proudly on my office wall, considering you an icon and symbol of the resistance against the Zionist enemy is the same hand that tore your picture today with disgustedly and disdainfully. These fingers that held the pen that wrote poetry and praised your heroics and courage, calling for you to be the undisputed leader of this nation, not only the leader of a small faction or party in a small country, are now holding a pen that writes angrily of you and your party. May God punish you for fooling us.

We believed that your weapons were aimed only at Israel, and that is why I wrote in defence of your weapons when the world called for disarming your party. I said that your weapons were the weapons of the entire nation, and that they were a symbol of dignity and pride. I did not know that the day would come when these weapons, the symbols of shame and disgrace, would kill our Syrian brothers who welcomed your people from southern Lebanon during the Israeli war on southern Lebanon in 2006 and who held up your pictures in support of you.

We have been fooled and cheated by Hassan Nasrallah, as we have naively believed that his weapons were only aimed at the Zionist enemy. We defended you based on a purely Arab and Islamic perspective and we attacked those who accused him of working in accordance with the Iranian agenda and those who said he works purely for the agenda of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei.

Days and years have gone by and it has been proven that we made a grave mistake in our strategic vision of the party and we realised that the other side attacking him was right. Today, I would like to apologise to them for the harsh words I said about them. I also apologise to myself because of my naivety and my lack of insight in reading the events. Instead, I was driven by my feelings and my instinctual hate for Zionism and my support for those who declare war on Israel. We were fooled by his (false) enthusiastic words and his threats to erase Israel from the map at a time when we heard nothing of the sort from Arab leaderships who lived in the laps of Israel.

Today, the blindfold has been taken off my eyes and I can clearly see the Hezbollah militias invading Syria to fight alongside Bashar Al-Assad’s army to kill the Syrian people revolting against their repressive and tyrant regime. The Syrian people are demanding their freedom and dignity after the regime failed to repress and thwart their revolution, which began peacefully despite the fact that the brutal and violent regime confronted the revolution with military force, killing, wounding, and displacing millions of Syrians. All this is for the sake of the regime remaining in power, even if it does so on the ruins of the Syrian state and on the corpses of the Syrian people who love their land.

Hezbollah entered Syria to rescue the murderer Bashar Al-Assad and eliminate the Syrian people after the army failed to end the war in its favour. Nasrallah is bragging about his achievements in Syria and forgot all he, and his leader, Khamenei, had said in the past about standing by the helpless and vulnerable people in the world. Is the killer Bashar Al-Assad considered helpless and vulnerable while the Syrian people who revolted to demand their freedom and dignity are considered brutal tyrants who are stamping Al-Assad with their boots?

Nasrallah and his party fooled us, but I thank God that we are finally seeing the light and they they are being exposed.
