PLO calls for UN response to Israel’s demolition of Palestinians homes

May 20, 2015 at 11:46 am

The Department of International Relations in the Palestine Liberation Organisation called on the United Nations to respond immediately to the Israeli authorities’ demolition of Palestinians homes in the occupied city of Jerusalem, to protect the Palestinians’ rights and properties and end its Judaisation.

In a press statement released yesterday, the department said: “The Israeli practices come as part of the government’s policy to steal the rest of the Palestinian lands, to undermine the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with its capital in East Jerusalem.”

The department added that the demolition operations targeted homes, industrial and commercial facilities, animal barns, and tents used for houses, wells and pools of water in many parts of the occupied West Bank, under the pretext that they were built without the necessary licences or that they were built on Palestinian land used by the Israeli army for training especially in the area of Tubas and the Jordan Valley.

The Israeli authorities demolished a total of 77 homes and facilities since the beginning of 2015.
