‘ISIS to divide Iraq into three parts’

June 3, 2015 at 11:01 am

The head of the Iraqi Turkmen Front said on Tuesday that ISIS is planning to divide Iraq into three parts and is going ahead with its plans, Anadolu has reported. Arshad Salihi’s remarks were made during a press conference at the front’s head office in Kirkuk.

Describing the actions of ISIS in Iraq as “crimes” he called for all political parties in the country to present their positions towards such plans. According to Salihi, the ISIS plan is based on demographic division, with Sunni, Shia and Kurdish areas. Meanwhile, he claimed, it is working to wipe out the Turkmenistan and other minority areas.

Commenting on the federal system demanded by some politicians for Kirkuk, Salihi said: “Those who are demanding a federal system for Kirkuk have to know what kind of conditions must be fulfilled for such a system to be effective.” He added that the demands are “unrealistic” in the light of the ongoing situation.

ISIS controls the city of Al-Hiwaija in the Governorate of Kirkuk and has been dispatching militias to carry out attacks across the area.
