Nasrallah threatens to displace millions of Israelis

The leader of the Shia militia group in Lebanon threatened on Friday that “millions” of Israelis would be displaced if a war between both sides erupted, AFP reported.

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah vowed: “Millions of Israelis will be displaced in case of a new conflict between the Shiite group and the Jewish state.”

Nasrallah’s remarks came during a rally in southern Beirut. They were made in response to Israeli comments that a future Israeli-Hezbollah war could displace more than a million Lebanese.

On Thursday, the Israeli newspaper Jerusalem Post quoted an unnamed Israeli military official saying, “if given no choice, Israel would evacuate 1 million, 1.5 million residents in Lebanon, and act.”

Nasrallah warned that Hezbollah “will displace millions of Israelis if a war is imposed on Lebanon.” He added: “This is well-known and the enemy leaders know it very well: we do not fear fighting with them and we do not fear their threatening.”

He continued: “If you [Israelis] think we are busy in Syria, you are mistaken because this does not change the equation with the enemy.”

The Israeli officials said that Hezbollah owns more than 100,000 rockets hidden in residential areas, adding that every Lebanese village is a military fortification. “In a future confrontation with Hezbollah,” he said, “we are obliged to target these places hoping they will be free of residents.”
