Remains of Tariq Aziz stolen from Baghdad airport

The People’s Mobilisation Forces known as Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi stormed Baghdad airport and stole the remains of Tariq Aziz, former President Saddam Hussein’s deputy, Iraqi media outlets reported yesterday evening.

According to the reports, the remains of Aziz were already on an aircraft ready to be flown to Jordan for burial in accordance with the wishes of his family. Moments before the plane took off; the militia entered the airport in vehicles marked as Ministry of Interior, stole the body and took it to an unknown destination.

Aziz’s widow confirmed the reports, while Jordanian officials said the Royal Jordanian aircraft had returned to Amman without the body.
