Shtayyeh calls on Muslim countries to boycott Israel

June 12, 2015 at 1:07 pm

The Governor for Palestine at the Islamic Development Bank, Mohammad Shtayyeh, called on member states to boycott Israel, and link the world’s economic interests with the behaviour of Israel towards the Palestinian people.

In his speech during the opening of the 40th session of the Council of Governors of the IDB in Mozambique, Shtayyeh highlighted the effectiveness of the international boycott which puts pressure on Israel, including the boycotts made by European and American universities as well as churches.

He said Palestinians are completing their battle in the international arena, as the required files will be submitted to the International Criminal Court to prosecute Israel for its offences against the Palestinian people in terms of settlement expansion and the 2014 aggression against Gaza.

Shtayyeh said the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip is hampering reconstruction efforts with none of the houses that were destroyed during last summer’s war being rebuilt, and there are still about 20,000 people living in temporary shelters.

He said Israel’s strategy aims to eradicate the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state through completing the Judaisation of Jerusalem, annexation of the Jordan Valley, increasing settlements in the West Bank and continuing the blockade of the Gaza Strip.
