June 15, 2015 at 12:03 pm

Italian activist, Samantha Comizzoli, who has been detained by the Israeli army since Friday, threatened to start a hunger strike in protest against Israel’s decision to deport her.

In a press release, the Ahrar Centre for Prisoners Studies and Human Rights said the Israeli authorities are holding Comizzoli at Ben-Gurion Airport.

According to the organisation, Comizzoli was arrested on Friday by Israeli forces in Nablus while she was taking part in a peaceful march in Kafr Qaddum in Qalqilya on a makeshift barrier. She was questioned on the field for six hours.

Comizzoli worked as an activist in the field of journalism and documenting the Israeli violations against Palestinians, especially children. She is an activist at Solidarity for Free Palestine (SFP) and has been in Palestine for over a year.

Ahrar condemned Comizzoli’s arrest and called on Palestinian officials to intervene in order to gain her release and pressure Israel not to deport her.
