Hamas will respond to any Israeli aggression against Palestinians, Jordanian Al-Sabeel newspaper reported a senior member of the movement as saying yesterday.
Leader and parliament member Mushir Al-Masri said that the Israeli threats do not affect Hamas and the truce would remain in place as long as the Israeli occupation is still committed to the ceasefire.
Speaking in a graduation ceremony organised by the Islamic Students’ Bloc in Gaza, Al-Masri said: “Any Israeli aggression will be faced with the same scale of response or even more. The assassination of any Palestinian will make targeting Tel-Aviv inevitable.”
Regarding citizens taking part in attempts to cause unrest in the Gaza Strip, he said that his movement would “never be smooth” with anyone who is involved in such activities. “We will use iron batons to hit those who conspire against our just cause,” he said.
Al-Masri described the Egyptian death sentences against Palestinian prisoners and martyrs as “trivial rulings”, calling for the Egyptian judiciary to withdraw the verdicts.
