Tunisia says it cannot face terrorism alone

Tunisia’s President Beji Caid Essebsi has said that his country cannot face Jihadist terrorists alone, Agence France-Presse reported on Friday. He was speaking in the wake of the terrorist attack in which 38 tourists and locals were killed at their coastal holiday resort.

Speaking at the hotel where the attack took place, Essebsi said: “Today, we recognised that Tunis is facing a global movement and we cannot face it alone. The proof is that similar attacks targeted France and Kuwait at the same time.”

This, he added, pushes the world to adopt a comprehensive strategy to face Jihadists. “All democratic states have to unite to face this phenomenon.”

The Tunisian health ministry confirmed that Tunisian citizens as well as tourists from Germany, Britain and Belgium were among the victims. Thirty-six people were wounded in the attack, some critically.
