Kuwait’s Interior Ministry has confirmed that the suicide bomber who carried out a Friday attack on a Shia mosque in central Kuwait City was a Saudi national, Kuwait’s official news agency reported on Sunday.
At least 27 people were killed – and more than 227 injured – when a suicide bomber blew himself up inside the Al-Imam Al-Sadeq Mosque during Friday prayers.
In a press statement, the ministry identified the bomber as Fahd Sulayman Abdul Mohsen Al-Beqaa, who, it asserted, had arrived in Kuwait by air early Friday.
The ISIS militant group has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to statements by the group posted on social media on Friday.
