June 29, 2015 at 11:38 am

Tunisia’s Ennahda party leader Rachid Ghannouchi described the terrorist attack in Sousse which resulted in the death and injury of scores of tourists as “the most violent attack” stressing that “terrorism targets the revolution and Tunisians’ freedom as well as the democratic foundation in Tunisia by destroying the economy and jobs and targeting the armed forces and citizens’ morale”.

“Those who are afraid of freedom at home and abroad are the beneficiaries of terrorist operations,” he said, calling on the Tunisian people “to unite in order to confront terrorism and to stand behind the army and security in this confrontation” which he described as a “battle of existence against terrorism”.

“We need national efforts and to build a national strategy which includes all organisations and parties to combat terrorism.”

Ghannouchi also called on businessmen to participate in the war against terrorism by investing in Tunisia, mainly Tunisian expatriates in order to “support the country’s tourism industry to compensate this summer’s losses”.
