Hundreds of Palestinian engineers to go on strike in West Bank

July 7, 2015 at 10:06 am

Around 1,850 public sector Palestinian engineers have threatened to start an industrial strike at the beginning of next month if the government does not meet their demands, Safa news agency reported.

One of the options would be an open-ended strike, a statement for the Syndicate of Palestinian Engineers said on Monday, with the strike only ending if the workers felt their needs had ben addressed.

The engineers have demanded that the government pay them allowances for the nature of their work, as well as allowances for work risk.

The Syndicate gave the government an ultimatum until the start of next month.

Last month, engineers carried out several protests, including partial strikes and protests amidst repeated failure meetings with the government on the issue.
