Palestine ambassador to Chile recalled over 'anti-Semitic remarks'

Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Malki has recalled Palestinian Ambassador to the Republic of Chile, Imad Nabil Al-Jadaa, over allegations that he made anti-Semitic remarks two months ago.

The ambassador was quoted in several media outlets as telling a Palestine Peace Conference in Santiago that, “A group of intellectuals and financial advisers, mostly non-Jewish Europeans, decided to establish the Zionist movement with one aim: the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people. However, the truth of the matter was that it was meant to facilitate Jewish plans to dominate the entire world.”

Israel’s Peace Now movement called on Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to dismiss Al-Jadaa, saying that his remarks were “scandalous anti-Semitic fabrications”. Such “hate speech gives legitimacy to anti-Semitic lies and publishes anger and hatred among the Israeli public,” claimed the movement. “This questions the usefulness of the peace process with the Palestinians, and the credibility of the Palestinian leadership as a partner in peace.”
