Tunisia: Wafa movement's Ayadi criticises anti-terror bill

July 23, 2015 at 2:56 pm

The head of Tunisia’s Wafa movement Abderraouf Ayadi has criticised the draft terror bill currently under discussion in Tunisian Parliament, describing it as a “civil war bill” that serves imperialist agendas rather than the Tunisian people’s priorities and demands.

Ayadi, who is also a former member Tunisia’s Constituent Assembly, told Quds Press on Wednesday that the anti-terror draft law, which was in discussion for several months before reaching its final version, was originally drafted in English then translated into Arabic by the Ministry of Justice before being referred to the National Constituent Assembly.

“The anti-terror bill being discussed today, Wednesday, in the parliament, comes in the context of the phenomenon of manufacturing terror, which several international actors are involved in with the aim of restricting freedoms and terrorising people. Those who put it [forward] believe that the people do not deserve freedom,” he said, criticising the “imperial” intentions of those who drafted the bill.
