US Senate can't review nuclear agreement with IAEA, insists Iran envoy

August 3, 2015 at 11:41 am

Iran’s representative at the International Atomic Energy Agency has warned the UN watchdog about disclosing its confidential agreements with Tehran to the US Senate. Reza Najafi said that the agency should not send any information regarding its agreements to be reviewed by Washington.

The Iranian official criticised the US Senate request to have access to the cooperation roadmap reached between the government in Tehran and the IAEA. The UN agency’s Director General, Yukiya Amano, is scheduled to meet with members of the Senate Committee on foreign relations on Wednesday.

Republicans have cast doubts over the nuclear deal reached last month between Iran and the P5+1 countries (the US, UK, France, Russia plus Germany) in Vienna.
