OIC to hold summit on Palestine

August 7, 2015 at 8:39 am

The General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) began preparations to hold an extraordinary summit to discuss the developments in the Palestinian issue and the Israeli attacks on the occupied city of Jerusalem.

In a press statement issued yesterday, the OIC said that its secretariat is engaging in consultations with the relevant authorities in Morocco so as to determine the date and venue of the summit that will be hosted by the kingdom.

The statement said that the summit comes in response to a call by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and in the context of the importance that the OIC gives to the Palestinian cause, and its continuous efforts “to mobilise support and backing for the Palestinian people and their just cause at the Islamic and international level” in order to put an end to the Israeli occupation and establish an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
