Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood (MB) yesterday mourned the death of the prominent Egyptian figure from the Islamic Groups (Al-Jamaa Al-Islamia) Essam Darbala who died in prison, Alamatonline.net reported.

In a statement the group said: “The assassination and killing of nationalists inside prisons such as the case of Darbala and Mohamed Al-Haj in Al-Raml Prison in Alexandria will be retaliated sooner or later.”

It said that killing Darbala, who led a review movement among the Islamic Group members to end violence, proves that the authorities do not fight terrorism, but fight to cause chaos. Darbala died in the notorious prison Al-Aqrab.

The Brotherhood reiterated that the deaths inside prisons are a kind of premeditated killing and amount to crimes which “make us unable to remain silent”.

It called for everyone inside and outside the country to work to save nationalists and activists held in prison.
