Erdogan: 'We will fight until not one single terrorist remains'

Turkey will continue fighting PKK militants “until not one single terrorist remains”, Felesteen newspaper quoted the country’s president as saying.

Reporting AFP, Felesteen reported that Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s pledge came in wake of the PKK claim it is responsible for the bombing of a police station in Istanbul.

“We will continue our fight until weapons are laid down… and not one single terrorist remains within our borders,” Erdogan said in a televised speech in Ankara.

Turkish military stepped up pressure on PKK militants with a fresh round of airstrikes in the southeast of the country.

Warplanes pounded 17 targets in the province of Hakkari on Monday and Tuesday, the military said.

AFP said Turkey started its “synchronised war on terror” last month, attacking PKK fighters in northern Iraq and ISIS group militants in northern Syria.

Erdogan said yesterday that Turkey’s air campaign against the PKK had already inflicted “serious losses” on the group. He also said “effective operations” were carried out against ISIS.

“For us, there is no difference between terrorist organisations. Whatever their purpose is, for us, a terrorist organisation is a terrorist organisation,” Erdogan said.
