The Kuwaiti Embassy in Cairo has called on Kuwaiti nationals, including students and tourists, to comply with the Egyptian government’s regulations on foreign currency transactions.

The embassy said in a statement on Tuesday published by the Kuwait News Agency that nationals should comply with the instructions issued by the Egyptian authorities in this regard and to disclose if they carry more than $10,000 cash or its equivalent in foreign currency when entering or leaving the country.

The embassy urged Kuwaitis to cooperate with Egyptian security personnel at check points and not to take photographs of sensitive government sites in order to avoid legal persecution.

It also warned Kuwaitis not to open their doors to strangers to avoid theft or assault, stressing the need not to hand over their passports under any circumstances.

Kuwaiti nationals are advised to visit the Embassy’s Health Office if they needed medical assistance or advice on the purchase of drugs.

The embassy’s warning also included those wishing to buy a property in Egypt to ensure the property is not disputed “before taking any action in this regard”.
